Jesus Christ is God who became flesh and dwelt among men, died a cruel death by crucifixion, and rose again from the dead three days later. By becoming a man and willingly shedding His blood to become the perfect sacrifice for sin, He redeemed us from eternal separation from God. (Matthew 9:6, John 8:11)
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God . . .And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:1-2,14
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation: for by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. Colossians 1:15-17
Because Jesus is the Perfect Son of God, He never sinned; and through His death, burial, and resurrection (whereby He suffered the wrath of God the Father for our sins and rose again), He is seated in Heaven with the legal authority to pardon our sins when we call upon His name, and where He continues to make intercession for us (Romans 8:34, Hebrews 7:25-26, Hebrews 10:18-22).
Jesus knows us intimately, and because He is both God and Man, He understands are struggles, our strengths, and our weaknesses. Yet because He loves us as the Father loves us, He work in us and through us, patiently waiting on the Father’s command to call us home. (Psalm 103:14, John 14:1-3, John 17:6-10, Ephesians 2:10, Hebrews 4:16-17, Revelation 22:17)
